South Africa in January 2006

My trip to South Africa was a great experience, i stayed with the van Tonder family for two weeks. During this two weeks i were barefoot skiing and my great trainer was

Jacobus van Tonder. This two weeks I had a hard but also very very good training experience,

i learned the tricks Toe-hold (the picture), tumble up/turn,side slide and the technique of the two foot and one foot slalom. I also tried the back deep and the toe-up start, the back deep was very technical but shouldn't be so hard to complete,

I had the problem that i didn't push my feet's up to my ankles, this is like the key to back deep and also that you should push your chest into the water.

About the toe-up start you need to push your body forward and have your foot on the same place, this was hard for me to do but this shouldn't either take so much energy but i didn't get the technique to my head.

About the family van Tonder you have much to say but i have a short version, they are the most greatest and nicest family in the whole barefooting,

to me they are like a second family and this is very good.

On the late evenings in South Africa we had great barbecue grills and talked about everything,

like the barefooting, this is a life experience for me and i will never forget it, Ever!

Thank Gerrit and Jacobus van Tonder for letting me come and that you showed a great care, responsibility and hospitality to me, also many thanks to mother Carin, and sister Anna.
